04 - 20 - 2012 New Berlin charter school plan to be reconfigured
(DI) A bid to develop a charter school in New Berlin is being postponed as organizers revamp plans to make the school available to families in other area school districts, including Selinsgrove & Lewisburg. The charter school will use an environmental theme, meaning classroom instruction will be coupled with outdoor education & investigation of local resources. It was proposed after the Mifflinburg school board voted to close the New Berlin Elementary School at the end of this school year. The charter school board hopes to submit a new application this summer & open for the 2013-14 school year.
