04 - 20 - 2012 Funding frustration fuels rally for education
(LS) As MCHS student, Jordan Everetts, puts it: "A small community can have a big voice..." And about 100 or more of those voices were rallying outside the Administration Building of the Mifflin Co. School District. All were expressing their frustration at the funding failure from Harrisburg. It was the proposed education budget from Gov. Tom Corbett that prompted the MIfflin Co. Coalition for Public Education to sponsor the gathering. Teachers, students, & taxpayers all found a spirit of community in voicing their opposition to the funding cuts that have hurt the county's public schools by over $3.5 million.
