02 - 29 - 2012 New Berlin charter school unanimously rejected by school board
(DI) The Mifflinburg school board voted 8-0 to reject the application for a proposed kindergarten to 4th-grade charter school in New Berlin during a special meeting last night. The board voted with the recommendation of school Superintendent who cited concerns about the intent behind the proposed New Berlin Charter School, its plan for student achievement, & the school district's financial situation. Under law, a school district canât cite budget reasons for rejecting a charter school application. This was acknowledged but the superintendent added that he wanted the board to consider it given the school district's budget woes.
