02 - 24 - 2012 Former school sales nixed by MCSD board
(LS) Members of the MIfflin Co. School District board of directors got testy last night in their monthly meeting over the sale of Strodes Mills Middle School & Brown Elementary. The vote to sell the 2 former schools failed by a 5-4 margin that included plenty of discussion following the vote. Those in favor of the sale intended to use the money for roof repair & other projects while those opposing the sale felt the decision was not thought out well enough for the long term, especially in the current economic situation. The vote does not a referendum for the sale, according to board member Travis Parkes, but was a "first step".
