01 - 20 - 2012 PSU top donor proposes naming stadium after Paterno
(DI) Donald Schure is Penn State-proud, but not of the university's board of trustees, which fired legendary coach Joe Paterno in wake of the child sex-abuse scandal. And in the 69-y/o graduate's mind, doing the right thing by JoePa would be to rename the football field after the longtime coach. Paterno Field at Beaver Stadium is what Schure proposes, a movement that he said pre-dates the alleged Jerry Sandusky incidents by years & has been done at other colleges to honor coaches. Schure told the PSU board of trustees that, ""An appropriate time to hold the dedication ceremony for Paterno Field at Beaver Stadium would be at the Blue-White Game on April 21."
