11 - 17 - 2011 J.-Co. Commissioners could approve teachers contract tonight
(LS) A new 3-yr. teachers contract with the Juniata Co. School Board may be decided tonight as the county commissioners review a recommendation to approve a collective bargaining agreement. The Juniata Co. Education Assn. would need to also approve the contract with the school board that would be set to begin on July 1, 2012 & run through June 30, 2015. The district was approached by the teachers to start negotiating a new contract before newly-elected board members began their term next January. Association president, Chris Heidenreich, said "it was clear that education is not their top priority" in referencing the 2 incoming school board members.
