11 - 01 - 2011 Centre Co. jobless rates take a dive from seasonal hirings
(CDT) The start of the school year has done wonders for Centre Co.âs unemployment rate. The countyâs preliminary unemployment rate for last month was 5.6% & is once again the lowest in PA. The figure fell 0.8% from Augustâs adjusted rate of 6.4%. Employment in state government was up by 4,000 in September, driven by the start of the fall semester at PSU, according to Steven Zellers, industry & business analyst at the stateâs Center for Workforce Information & Analysis.
