09 - 02 - 2011 Concerned citizen’s tip leads to $450K marijuana bust
(DI) An alleged leader of a $450,000 marijuana ring had drugs delivered by mail from TX & CA to the homes of unsuspecting Northumberland & Snyder Co. residents & would intercept the packages before the homeowners. A concerned citizen tipped off authorities to unusual activity last year, which led to the arrest last week of 12 people, including a 32-y/o former Sunbury police officer, Christopher Chilcote, of Danville, for selling cocaine & other drugs. During that investigation, Northumberland Co. DA Anthony Rosini said, police uncovered information about a major marijuana ring being led by 39-y/o Michael Angstadt, of Sunbury, involving unsuspecting homeowners. A statewide grand jury found that Angstadt had numerous packages of marijuana delivered to his associates in the drug ring as well as “dead drop addresses”, or the homes of unknowing residents.
