08 - 26 - 2011 MCSD Board unhappy with change orders from school construction
(LS) The good news is that construction of the new Mifflin Co. High School came in under budget. The bad news, most of the $1.6 million set aside to pay for unforseen problems, errors, & the like will have to be spent. The architect & project manager told the school board last night that some loose ends, or change orders, will need settled. Dwight Knouse of Hayes Large Architects said there was no perfect project & it was unfortunate that change orders occurr but that they still had a good record with documents that were 99.4% accurate. The board was clearly not happy with the news but voted to approve the work.
