05 - 04 - 2011 Welfare cuts targeted for J.-Co. recipients as needs grow
(LS) Just as there have been a doubling in human service needs in Juniata Co., the county commissioners are having to look at the possibility of cutting services. The move stems from the state & federal funding that is also drying up due to budget constraints. The Tri-Co. MH/MR Administrator, Chris Wysocki, feels that it's becoming a tug of war between educations cuts vs. welfare cuts. While the agency is doing okay for now, Wysocki isn't sure of what will come next year. As a result, the agency is looking into ways at cutting costs now.
