(CDT) Penn State President Graham Spanier is among the highest-paid public college presidents in the nation, ranked 5th in total cost of employment by the Chronicle of Higher Education in a report released Sunday. Spanier, who has criticized plans by Gov. Tom Corbett to slash state spending for PA colleges, had a total cost of employment of $800,592 in fiscal 2010, according to the report. That included his base salary of $620,004, deferred compensation of $157,828, & retirement contributions of $22,760. It did not include the cost of his car allowance, house & club dues.
