03 - 04 - 2011 Opponents to the school merger announce school board candidacy
(LS) Yesterday in a press conference in downtown Lewistown, 5 residents who were not in favor of merging the 2 high schools announced their intention to seek a position on the county school board. Each gave statements on their platform, but were unified in saying the district made the decision to consolidate in a "haphazard, short-sighted, irresponsible manner without concern for the impact on the community." The candidates were Beth Laughlin, Anne Marie Swifford, Neil Russler, Kent Smith, & Thomas White Jr.
