02 - 24 - 2011 Local United Way’s 1st Annual Walk for Warmth a success
Earlier this month, almost 100 people met in Derry Twp. Community Park to make their way around the 1 mile trail to raise money for the 1st annual Walk for Warmth. The event was held now, when temperatures are low, so that walkers could imagine what families who are struggling might endure. At the close of the walk, officials from MCS Bank, reported collecting $6,663.37. The final total will be slightly higher as several donations wonât come in until later. Itâs not too late to consider giving to an organization that is in touch with the needs of the community and can respond appropriately. Donations can be made to the United Way of Mifflin-Juniata, 13 East Third Street, Lewistown, or call 248-9636.
