02 - 18 - 2011 School district looks to save millions by accelerating closures
(LS) The lead architect involved in the merger of the 2 Mifflin Co. high schools presented the school board with 2 variations of the “Option 2-B”, which was recently voted on. The variations were requested by school superintendent, James Estep, & his administrative team in order to find ways to maximize the savings while doing as little as possible to affect the programs. What resulted was an acceleration of closures for more buildings that could come as soon as next school year. This comes as the district is trying to deal with a possible $7.3 million budget deficit.
