02 - 15 - 2011 Centre Co. armed robbery case ends with a mistrial
(CDT) The trial of 4 men charged in a slew of armed robberies & burglaries ended in a mistrial yesterday after defendant Alexei Semionov decided to plead guilty. The attorneys for 2 of the remaining defendants & defendant Maksim Illarionov, who is representing himself, argued that the trial would be compromised if it was allowed to continue. Judge Thomas King Kistler granted the motion for mistrial. Kistler said the trial could go forward if it did not include testimony from Semionov. But it could not proceed with Semionovâs testimony. Centre Co. DA Stacy Parks Miller had said that Semionov would testify to his confession.
