04 - 27 - 2010 Local senior centers to get financial boost from the state
(LS) The state Dept. of Aging has awarded close to $30,000 toward the Elder Community Services, Inc. in the form of 2 state grants. This financial boost will assist the agency in improving local senior centers & day care programs through enhancing their programs. The agency's Executive Director, Jeff Vaughn of the Mifflin-Juniata Regional Services Corp., said Elder Community Services received the 2 grants from office of long-term living & office of program development & support. Enhancing food choices will be one of the areas these grants will impact for centers in Lewistown, Mifflintown, & McAllisterville. It's also the goal to bring in "younger seniors" as a result of the planned enhancements.
