04 - 09 - 2010 J.-Co. School board presses on with district move choice
(LS) Even after considering the concerns of the parents, the Juniata Co. School Board voted to move ahead with their decision to move from the PIAA District 3 to District 6. That, say parents, would mean students would have to travel farther to games played out of town & interfere with academics. The District 6 board of directors tabled their decision on the matter due to the concern. The school district says games played in the Mountain League means kids will not be traveling home late as their games start earlier. They add that on the average, travel distances would increase by about 5 miles per game. The move comes after the district has had frustrating scheduling issues within the Tri-Valley League.
