03 - 19 - 2010 District switch in Juniata Co. stirs up passion amongst parents
(LS) After the Juniata Co. School Board of Directors voted last April to affiliate with the Mountain League, the board followed up with discussion on the following September to move from District 3 to District 6. This past January, the board voted in favor of that move. But now, word of that decision has fueled a passionate outcry from parents opposing the decision. It has even received the attention of a school alum who now represents that area in the State House of Representatives. Rep. Adam Harris asked the school to consider the time lost academically because he, along with others in the district, feel there will be more time traveling to games. This, they say, will make it difficult for family to support teams & students to choose between academics & extra-curricular activities.
