03 - 15 - 2010 Juniata Valley sees minor flooding from recent rains
(LS) While the Juniata River did not crest at flood stage as forecasters had predicted, there were places where the waters did rise enough to close some area roads. Secondary roads in Granville, Wayne, & Armagh Townships were affected due mainly to run off problems. The Juniata did crest last night short of the 23ft. flood stage level in Mifflin Co. but in Juniata Co., there was some flooding along the Juniata as it intersected with Tuscarora Creek in Port Royal. No reports of any flood damage were turned in & the rain–along with the flood waters–are expected to decrease throughout today.
