12 - 06 - 2013 Mifflin Co. holds the line on taxes, passes 2014 budget
[LS] - Last night during the meeting of the Mifflin Co. Commissioners, next year's $23.6 million budget was unanimously passed without raising taxes. This keeps the millage rate at 14.250 & will include $965,000 less spending than this year. Chairman Mark Sunderland said the county would be receiving less grant money in the coming year but told the Lewistown Sentinel that he felt it was a good budget saying, "This is 3.2 percent less than last year due to less grant funding. Everybody worked very hard on this budget." Commissioner Kevin Kodish added that it was the 7th time in 8 years that the county had not increased taxes & promised to "continue our efforts to improve overall efficiency, and to provide the services our residents deserve."
