10 - 30 - 2013 PSU Trustee is speaking out about NCAA claim against University
[CDT] - Penn State trustee Anthony Lubrano is talking, however, & he's rejecting the notion that historic sanctions handed down by the NCAA actually helped the university. An attorney for the NCAA argued yesterday that Penn State benefited by agreeing to the sanctions, because the university otherwise risked even stiffer penalties, but Lubrano called that âa hollow argument.â Inside the Centre Co. courthouse in Bellefonte, NCAA attorneys asked a judge to dismiss a civil lawsuit brought by Lubrano and others, including the Paterno family, that seeks to have the sanctions lifted. NCAA lawyer Everett Johnson said the university would lose the benefits of the consent decree if the sanctions were overturned, and therefore should be a part of any suit seeking that.
