A single car crash Thursday night that closed state Route 26 near Pine Grove Mills, Ferguson Township police said alcohol may have led to the incident. Sgt. Chris Albright said a 52-year-old Erie man, whom they did not identify lost control of his Subaru SUV on a curve while driving downhill by himself. His car sustained heavy damage after leaving the road, plowing through a ditch, striking a traffic sign and finally coming to rest across the road about 130 feet down the mountain near the Grissinger Camp Lane entrance. A LifeFlight helicopter flew the driver to UPMC Altoona. Where the driver would be tested at the to determine if he had been driving under the influence.
