10 - 02 - 2013 Community Watch Meeting addresses improved communication
LEWISTOWN - Improvement of communication was the big topic at the Neighborhood Community Watch meeting held Tuesday evening at the Rec Park Community Center. All three watch groups, Downtown-West, South and East, were represented at the meeting and all were interested in coming up with ways to improve communication, not only within the groups but also within the community. The group decided that email and Facebook were the top two options, next to phone calls, that would be best to communicate with each other. One of the ideas brought up to increase awareness in the community was to create a banner to potentially hang on the historic courthouse. This banner would be used to promote the group and its activities. Jim Zubler, executive director of Downtown Lewistown Inc., said that he would look into the cost of a banner. Also on Tuesday, Lewistown Community Service Officer Steve Knudson directed those in attendance to begin planning Safe Trick-or-Treat night from 5 to 7 pm on Oct. 25. The group decided it would break up into committees that would further discuss the basic ideas brought up at the meeting. Some of the ideas included: how much candy and what type to buy, the option of handing out information about the group in the form of pamphlets, and should there be a schedule for volunteers.
