OAKLAND MILLS - One person is dead after the van he was driving was struck by a tractor trailer Wednesday afternoon on state Route 35, at Oakland Road. Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown said John P. Yoder, 66, of Port Royal, the driver of a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Juniata County Coroner Lee Snyder after his vehicle was struck by a 1995 Ford L9000 Truck Tractor, driven by Charles L. Ryan, 59, of McAlisterville. According to the report, Yoder was traveling on Oakland Road, and he was turning left onto state Route 35 north and stopped at stop sign. Police said he entered the roadway before it was clear and was struck by the tractor tailor on the driver's side. According to the report, both drivers were wearing seat belts. Yoder was pinned inside the vehicle as a result of damage in the crash, and Ryan was not injured.
