03 - 14 - 2013 Juniata Co. collision leaves a Mifflintown woman dead.
MEXICO - A collision between a box truck and a horse-drawn buggy left one dead and three injured around 6:30 pm Tuesday in Juniata County. Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown said a 24-year-old female, from Mifflintown, was pronounced dead at the scene and a 25-year-old man along with a one-year-old boy and a two-year-old boy, all of Mifflintown, suffered injuries of unknown severity. According to the report, a 1999 Spartan box truck driven by David L. Brubaker, 42, of Thompsontown, was traveling east on William Penn Highway, near Wagner Road, when it attempted to pass a horse and buggy traveling at a slow rate of speed. Police said as the box truck attempted to pass in a designated passing zone, the vehicle struck the rear end of the buggy. After initial impact the buggy rolled over and came to a final rest on its roof, in the east bound lane. Police said that Brubaker was not injured, will be cited for incident and no alcohol was involved.
