02 - 19 - 2013 New apartment complex holds open house
LEWISTOWN - People gathered at a new apartment complex for the elderly at the former site of the Mann Edge Tool Co. on Monday for a guided tour. Ground was broken on the project in November 2011 and the first residents started to move in Jan. 1. The 31-unit apartment complex was made possible through a collaborative effort by the Mifflin County Industrial Development Corporation, SEDA-Council of Governments, the Mifflin County Commissioners and several other entities. Many of the residences graciously opened up their homes for the tour, allowing visitors to get a close up look of the spacious one- and two-bedroom apartments on three levels. In addition to an on site laundry room, the complex has several common areas, including a fireplace room on the third floor and three seasons sun room. Even though it has been less than two months since the project was completed, 25 of 31 apartments have already been rented.
