07 - 23 - 2012 PennDOT to beging bridge work in Snyder Co.
MONTOURSVILLE - A series of bridge repair jobs will make travel between McClure and Middleburg more difficult beginning today. A bridge replacement project is scheduled to begin on U.S. 522 in Snyder County just east of Beavertown that will close the highway at that location and force a detour. Another bridge closure is set to begin the same day on Middlecreek Road in Spring Township, between Sandhill Road and Back Mountain Road. A detour will be put into effect until about mid-August. This is the first phase of a two-year, two-bridge contract, and will replace the bridge with a new, 36-foot span precast concrete arch culvert. A temporary roadway was placed into service in June and will continue to be used until approximately mid-September. This year's portion of the work is to be completed by early October, and the remaining work is scheduled to be completed by late September 2013.
