05 - 08 - 2012 Closures are favored by Midd-West School District
(DI) It seems likely that 2 Midd-West elementary schools will be closed by next school year, as administrators & board members weighed their options during a work session last night in an effort to eliminate a $1.8 million budget gap. Since February, the board has discussed the benefits & liabilities of closing the Perry-West Perry & West Beaver elementary schools, & last night in a presentation by school's business manager on a modified Option that includes those closures, it was reported that the budget deficit would be decreased to $150,000 by taking those measures. Both middle schools would be consolidated at the West Snyder Middle School, serving 6th-8th grades, & the high school would continue to house 9th-12th graders.
